THE M FAMILY FOUNDATION NAMES EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

The M Family Foundation’s Board of Directors named Ambre Devoti their first executive director. The nonprofit established in hope is devoted to raising awareness and directly supporting women and children battling cancer.

“After tragically losing family and close friends to ovarian and pediatric cancers, we established this foundation as a source of support. We have been overwhelmed by the generosity of family, friends, and the community along the way. Now, we are thrilled to have Ambre lead the Foundation. She has the right combination of personal and professional experience toguide us during an exciting growth stage.” said Kelly McCarthy, founder of the M Family Foundation.

Ambre’s hiring comes as the foundation announced its 501(c)(3) nonprofit status earlier this year. The Foundation is preparing for the 6th Annual Superhero Race Against Cancer in September.

Ambre has personal ties to our vision, having lost her brother to pediatric cancer, an experience that left a lasting impact that shaped her mission of service to others. “I am honored to lead the M Family Foundation. The foundation is poised to develop its vision and build on the tremendous momentum started by its founders and supporters. I look forward to the opportunity to take the foundation to the next level and to make a difference for even more families impacted by cancer,” Ambre said.

Ambre is a philanthropic leader with extensive experience in management, events, communications, corporate philanthropy, and nonprofit work. Previously, she led corporate social responsibility and employee engagement programs for Under Armour and T. Rowe Price. Most recently, Ambre served as Senior Regional Director for Heart of America Foundation; a national nonprofit focused on providing equitable learning spaces in underserved communities. In addition to her professional roles, she has served on many boards and committees in the community directly in need.

September is Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month

OVARIAN CANCER TESTING & DETECTION:
There is no routine, simple screening test to detect ovarian cancer accurately. Contrary to popular belief, cervical screening (i.e., Pap smear) will not detect ovarian cancer. While cervical screening is effective in the early detection of cervical cancer, it is not a test for ovarian cancer.

Because there is no routine ovarian cancer screening test, it is essential to be aware of the disease and its symptoms.

If you have signs and symptoms of ovarian cancer, speak to your doctor. The pathway to diagnosis includes:

  • Pelvic exam
  • Transvaginal or pelvic ultrasound
  • CA-125 blood test

In some cases, doctors may also use a CT or PET scan as part of the diagnostic process. A biopsy is the only definitive way to determine if a patient has ovarian cancer.

The M Family Foundation:

Superhero Race Against Cancer
6th Annual (10K, 5K) to support the M Family Foundation
Sunday, September 25, 2022

The M Family Foundation is a community-based non-profit organization in Florida that raises awareness and directly supports women and children battling cancer. Ovarian and pediatric cancer are the two deadliest diseases facing women and children annually.

Early detection and awareness are crucial in achieving successful diagnosis and treatment outcomes. When the founders’ family experienced the tragic loss of three women to ovarian cancer and three children to pediatric cancer, they knew it was time to act.

On Sunday, September 25, 2022, the M Family Foundation will host two races: 10K and 5K, both chipped and timed. Strollers and children are welcome to participate in this event. We look forward to seeing you all at the finish line.

Not a runner or walker? There are many other ways to become involved with this fantastic event. You can become a volunteer, become a sponsor, or become a donor. For additional information, head over to www.mfamilyfoundation.org
